Russell, Montgomery and Associates

Russell, Montgomery and Associates/OI Partners, Inc. was created on November 1, 1985, to meet the emerging need for outplacement counseling programs for several Nashville area businesses. As one of the first outplacement firms in Tennessee, RMA's reputation grew for quality, professional service tailored to meet the needs of its client base. The firm began with two partners, Dennis Russell and Bill Montgomery, plus one consultant and one support staff member.

After the first three years, it became apparent that additional office space was needed in order to accommodate a growing number of candidates who required an office, as well as additions to the RMA staff. In 1988, RMA moved into its present state-of-the-art headquarters on Continental Place in Brentwood. Soon thereafter, another full-time consultant was added to the staff, along with three adjunct counselors. With the expertise of its increased staff, RMA was able to offer a wider variety of services to meet the needs of its clients. These included executive search, employee evaluations, employee opinion surveys, and general human resource consulting.

The first branch office was opened in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1989; Memphis was added in 1995. Our newest offices, Chattanooga and Tri-Cities, opened in 2001. Presently, the firm has fourteen full-time consultants and eight adjunct counselors, in addition to support staff in all locations. RMA's services have again been expanded to include executive coaching, executive search, employee relations, pre-retirement counseling, and evaluations.

In 1994, the strategic decision was made to join OI Partners, Inc., the world's largest career consulting partnership. In retrospect, this event had a tremendous growth impact on the firm, nearly tripling its income over the next three years. This was because RMA could now offer services through more than 200 offices worldwide yet remain the primary contact on a local level-global reach, local touch. RMA has been very active in an OI Partners, Inc. leadership position with Bill Montgomery serving as Chairman of the Board, Corporate Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors.

Russell, Montgomery and Associates looks to the future, embracing the ever-changing needs of its clients and the human resource function in general. Emerging career transition programs and executive coaching are growing services that are very compatible with the traditional services RMA has been delivering over the years. One thing will always remain--consistent quality of service customized to meet the needs of its clients.
